The Location In the hamlet of Nocelle, 400 meters above sea-level and just 5km away (or 1700 steps) from Positano on Italy’s most famous shoreline, the Amalfi coast, Secret Garden is ideally located for everything this celebrated area has to offer. Nocelle itself, surrounded by a natural park reserve and on the ‘Walk Of The Gods’ hiking trail, has two restaurants and a shop, but once you’ve walked down the private stone staircase surrounded by olive, lemon and fig trees, to the villa, you’ll feel miles away from anywhere.
The eminently charming, multi-lingual, owner, Richard Fowler, came to Nocelle in the early 1980s, when he was working as an artistic director in Denmark. He fell in love with the area and moved to Nocelle permanently. He designed and built, The Secret Garden, with local craftsmen, and rents it out for part of the year. Richard lives nearby when the villa is rented out so he is on hand if you need him.
