Holiday House Marlela is a indipendent home on a 1000 square meter property, where also the owners live (in a detached house). The house is located about 300 meters from the sea, in the village called “Baia del Silenzio”, a group of houses by the sea out of town. The interior is comfortable and cozy, equipped with everything that can be useful in summer and winter as well, when a wood stove gives a nice climate and atmosphere. The exterior has a porch surrounded by aromatic plants, as well as a beautiful garden with lawn, palm trees, bouganville and typical Mediterranean trees (orange, pear, wild pomegranate, fig). The location is ideal for those people that wish to visit eastern Sicily, since the house lyies halfway between Catania and Siracuse, location as good for destinations like Siracusa, Noto, Pantalica, Cavagrande as for Catania and surrounding area, including Mount Etna or Taormina. It is also ideal for those who simply want to relax, enjoy the nearby sea, go snorkeling, fishing, etc. staying within the bay. The location is great for those who want to be far away from chaos but at the same time want to be close to Catania’s airport, at about a half an hour drive
The next town is Brucoli, which is about 6 km far from “Baia del Silenzio”, whereas Brucoli is about 5 km far from Augusta. It was born as a fishing village and has a canal passing through for much of its length. On the walls, along the canal, many caves , typical houses of Neolithic age, can be seen. Brucoli is still now a fishermen’s village but it also has become a tourist area with restaurants, pizzerias, ice cream shops etc. On the hill of the Gisira area there is the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Adonai, with an hermitage, built on a natural cave, which was already used by the Greek. Significant is the presence of an aragonese castle, which was built by order of Queen Giovanna of Aragon in 1467 in order to defend the emporium and warehouses, where they loaded the goods to be exported. Also the nineteenth-century parish church, dedicated to St. Nicholas of Bari, the patron of sailors and patron of the town, is noteworthy. For those wishing to go boating there is also an equipped pier, where you can rent boats. Brucoli is a popular destination for locals as well, which spend the summer nights in one of the various places to eat or just relaxing on the little square
