The town of San Giovanni Valdarno, birthplace of Masaccio, is only 3 km away from the farmhouse. The town has been important since medieval times when it enjoyed an artistic flowering and remains today one of the most vibrant of Valdarno’s town. The historical centre is still intact and is home to several museums including the Museo della Basilica, the Palazzo d'Arnolfo and the Casa del Masaccio. It is also worth visiting the towns of Montevarchi (where there is a Paleontological Museum and the Museo di Arte Sacra della Collegiata di San Lorenzo), Loro Ciuffenna and Cavriglia (Museo della Pieve). The unique landscape of the Chianti Classico is a short drive away where you can discover Gaiole in Chianti (21 km), Radda in Chianti (24 km) and the city of Siena (51 km). From here you can easily visit important artistic and historical towns such as San Gimignano and Monteriggioni. Florence is 45 km away, Arezzo 35 km and a little further there is Cortona and Sansepolcro which are easliy accessible by train from San Giovanni Valdarno.
